Two years after the Killzone 2 saw the light of day, Killzone 3 was launched in India (and all around the world) on Wednesday. The Sony Playstation 3 exclusive title was launched at a press conference in Mumbai by Atyindra Bose, Country Manager of Playstation India.Along with the standard edition, a Killzone 3 Collector’s Edition was also unveiled that includes not jnust the game but also a Helghast Helmet replica, a SteelBook case, a 100-page Killzone 3 art book, a Helghast action figure and a CD with the game soundtrack. The bundle also comes with a Playstation Network voucher with a code that unlocks extra abilities and weapons in-game.
Killzone 3 continues the story of the war between the ISA and the Helghast Empire on various exotic planets. It’s a first-person shooter and is the first time a Killzone title will be built keeping 3D gaming in mind. The game seems to have gotten a pretty good reception from the gaming media with Metacritic with a score of 83.
Destructoid was very appreciative of the game and even referred to it as “as close to perfect as online shooters get…,” while IGN was equally impressed and stated, “Killzone 3 is so enjoyable because it’s not just a shooter, it’s an experience.” However, Killzone 3 still hasn’t been able to wow the critics as much as its predecessor and still has its share of detractors. This is pointed out by Game Revolution states in its review “By filling Killzone 3 to the brim with extras, they (Guerrila- Killzone 3’s developers) have let the core game suffer.”
The standard edition of Killzone 3 for the PS3 is now available in India for Rs. 2,499 while the Collector’s Edition goes for a solid Rs. 7,990.
